News With Pictures

Image
Okay, I promised some pictures and here they are. I'll start with the kitchen. The finished product might not be exactly like this but it will probably be close. I knew cabinets were expensive but holy cow. We have already found some creative ways to cut the cost and still get what we want. Now I'll throw up some gory pictures of my knee. I have no idea what I did or really when I did it. The second picture really doesn't do it justice. It is much more bruised than it looks here. It is stiff most of the time and starts to ache if I have been on it for a while. This morning we went shopping a few places and stopped at Lowe's to look around. By the time we got home I needed to sit on the couch with my leg up for a while. Once it starts to ache it takes quite a while to feel better. Medication helps, I'm taking Ibuprofen by the handful sometimes. Ok, not really by the handful but quite a few. I hope it gets better, I'm getting sick of hobbling around.

Whole Bunch Of News

A lot has happened since the last time I posted on here. I won't get into it all now because I want to go into detail on some of it. I am still working in one of the striking shops. Everything is going really well. I don't think I would want to stay permanently but the work isn't bad and it is a nice change of pace for a while and a great way to make friends and contacts that might be useful later on. Things are still moving along on the house. I am going to the county commission meeting again on Tuesday. This should be the final time. The actual agreement that will let us build on our land will go before the board in the 'consent agenda'. That is the part where they pass a whole bunch of stuff that everyone agrees on all at once. Our issue shouldn't even get mentioned unless a commissioner wants to pull it for further discussion. After what happened at the last meeting I don't think it is likely. Nonetheless, I am going anyway, just in case. In other house ...

Medical Update

Jen had her liver biopsy on Monday. That was a huge production for what they actually do. I guess it is done for a reason though. We had to be there at 7:30am for the 9 o’clock procedure. She was prepped for it just like someone would be for a much more in depth surgery. The actual procedure only took about 20 minutes. We had to spend another two hours in the recovery room so that they could monitor her. Everything went very well. We got home at about 1 o’clock. She took it easy for the rest of the day and I stayed home that night just in case. We aren’t sure when all of the results will be back, hopefully soon. Until then….we wait.

Steroids

One of the medications that I got for my teeth was a steroid to help control the swelling. I hate them. All they make me want to do is eat. And I don't mean the stuff I'm supposed to eat. I want to eat only junk food. Every fast food commercial I see makes me want to eat. At one point I was even willing to eat the McRibb sandwich from McDonalds. Usually very gross, but tonight very appetizing. Luckily I took the last of them tonight. Thank goodness. I haven't stopped eating since this afternoon. However I still can't wait until I am healed enough to go get a big hamburger.

Teeth, The Final Chapter

Ok, this is the last I'll post about this. Actually it is all have to post about. I've laid around all of yesterday and most of today. I think the anesthesia is still wearing off. After another nap this morning I think it mostly gone. Eating is not as hard as I thought it might be although soft foods don't stick with you very long. This weekend there is a reptile show at the Orlando civic center that Jen wants to go to. It might be kind of fun. Luckily the civic center isn't hard to get to. We will have to get up early and go, so that there might be a better parking spot. After spending a few hours we'll come home so that I can still watch some football (and possibly racing). Well that is about all for now, there is a very insistent woman sitting next to me wanting a foot rub. No rest for the weary.

Teeth Part 2

It is almost 12 hours after the pulling and I'm doing pretty well. The numbness is almost gone and I have been taking pills well. I don't think that I was in the dentist office for even an hour. But then again I was knocked out for the procedure. Jen has bee waiting on me all day. I know it is probably getting old for her but I'm glad she is doing it. I guess she still loves me even after 5 years of putting up with me (Our anniversary is the 24 th of Nov). So far since we got home I'll the I have done is lay in bed. Actually I'm propped up with many pillows. Jen is going to make me mac & cheese after she gets done playing with the bird. At the moment I feel good enough to stuff for myself but Jen won't let me yet. That is probably for the best, the last thing I need is to stark bleeding again. Apparently I was referred to as a "bleeder" this morning. I'm keeping my hopes up that in the morning I will be able to move around and do a lot more.

Wisdom Teeth

Only two more days until my wisdom teeth come out. I put this off for 31 years, but it is finally time. They don't hurt or anything, but the gums on the teeth in front are starting to suffer. I'm going to have them knock me out completely. Jen says that I shouldn't because it will take me a long time to get back to feeling like myself. I say I don't care. The last thing I want is to experience the dentist pulling and hammering on teeth that far back in my head. Also I tend to gag a lot at the dentist. I'm not a very good patient. I think that I will take my chances with the anesthesia. Thursday I am coming home early from work so I can get a good night sleep and take the first of two Valium they gave me. This will also be the first Valium that I have ever taken. This also gives me an excuse to lay around the house all day Friday. It is a rough way to get a day off but I'll take what I can get. Sometime on Friday I'll try post and give the post-op report.

Busy Busy

I said that I wanted to post as often as possible and I am trying. I guess that I will have to set aside some time just for writing or I will never have time. I don't really feel like going to work today but I'm going to be the only one in my shop there tonight. That's OK because I have left early on Friday the past two weeks. I won't go in at all next Friday because I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled that morning. I have put it off for a long time but it is finally time to have it done. All four of them are coming out. It is supposed to take about an hour. This weeks grocery trip will have to include a bunch of soft food. I'm not worried at all about getting it done (at least not yet). The doctor is highly recommended and very professional. I will be sure to post on how it turned out.
