My Big Mouth
I did it again. I opened my big mouth. Friday when I was all drugged up and Jen was taking care of me I told her the I didn't want to just get her some crap for her birthday that when I felt better I would get her whatever she wanted. I know, bad idea. It sounded good at the time though. Today I felt a lot better so we went over to Orlando to the reptile show. Immediately she was drawn to the chameleons. They are pretty cool and she really likes them. She got to hold a few and the guy we talked to said that they weren't as hard to take care of as we thought. I said no, she couldn't have one, we didn't have any room for it. She protested but moved on. We walked around and saw all kinds of snakes, lizards, spiders, scorpions, and turtles. Every time we passed a turtle we stopped for a while. At about the last exhibit we stopped at there was a small Hermann's tortoise. It was a cute little guy/girl (we are not sure yet) in a cage by itself. Jen made up her mind that she either wanted the tortoise or the chameleon. Uh oh, now what? I had said the words "what ever she wanted". I really didn't think we needed either, but she wouldn't budge. So...I said it would have to be the tortoise or nothing. I really didn't feel like dealing with the whole live food thing and a tortoise should be easier. I hope it will be because we got him. I think it is a him. Right now he is sitting on the cabinet next to Charley's cage. He has a heat lamp and a water bowl and a food dish and now he has a terracotta pot to hide in. Here are a few pictures of the new addition to our family.
