Whole Bunch Of News

A lot has happened since the last time I posted on here. I won't get into it all now because I want to go into detail on some of it. I am still working in one of the striking shops. Everything is going really well. I don't think I would want to stay permanently but the work isn't bad and it is a nice change of pace for a while and a great way to make friends and contacts that might be useful later on.

Things are still moving along on the house. I am going to the county commission meeting again on Tuesday. This should be the final time. The actual agreement that will let us build on our land will go before the board in the 'consent agenda'. That is the part where they pass a whole bunch of stuff that everyone agrees on all at once. Our issue shouldn't even get mentioned unless a commissioner wants to pull it for further discussion. After what happened at the last meeting I don't think it is likely. Nonetheless, I am going anyway, just in case.

In other house news, we were supposed to meet with our builder and the land clearing guy and the fill guy last weekend. Our builder was there but the other two were not. I guess one was stuck in the middle of the river in a boat the wouldn't run and I'm not sure about the other. It was rainy withe a lot of lightning anyway so we wouldn't have gotten to look at much. in the near future Jen and I need to go back out ant remark the points that the environmental guy laid out as the line between the uplands and the wetlands.

We have also started to work with a local kitchen design place. We went in last weekend and gave them the house plans so that they could model the cabinets on the computer. It was much easier to visualize the kitchen with a 3-d color image. It made me feel like I was standing in the finished kitchen already. We have a lot of work to do. The first estimate with what they had drawn up was all Kraftmaid cabinets came out to about $15,000 for just the kitchen cabinets. We are working on figuring out how we can lower that price and still keep the door styles and finishes that Jen likes. There seems to be a wealth of Kraftmaid accessories on the internet. Hopefully we can figure something out. The bathrooms are another story entirely.

We have also revamped our flooring choice. Originally we had picked out a bamboo flooring. While it is very nice to look at it is far to soft for our household. We have decided to go with laminate flooring instead. I didn't want just some ordinary looking wood so we spent sometime online looking for something more unique. We found some Armstrong Swiftlock flooring in Italian walnut. At first glance it looks like there is a lot going on in it but once the furniture is in place I think it will look really nice.

One last thing, about two weeks ago now i must have done something to my knee. It swelled up to about half the size of a baseball on my kneecap. Something similar happened a few years ago and by the time I got to the doctor it turned out to be nothing. Therefore I didn't go to the doctor this time. Now, after two weeks it is bruised pretty good, stiff, and tender to the touch. none of this happened the first time.

Lastly, I have started going back to school again. Currently I am taking Intermediate Algebra. I think I am doing very well considering that it is my first math class since the 10th grade. I need to take a lot more math so I hope this trend continues.

I have pictures of a lot of the things that I just posted about. I'll try to set down tomorrow and post a bunch more.
